Sukoon

In a world designed for speed, this home invites stillness. Sukoon, true to its name, is not just a residence. It is a deeply personal retreat where design becomes emotion, and material becomes memory. Created for a couple who are dog parents, and design enthusiasts, this 2BHK is as much about soul as it is about surface.

A seasoned industry professional who once helmed a brand known for Italian luxury finishes, the client envisioned his home as a canvas for exquisite Italian wood surfaces — yet, the essence of this project lies not just in finishes, but in feeling.

The experience begins at a blue door with a wooden safety window that opens inward, setting the tone for the unexpected. Inside, a corridor wrapped in smoked oak and grounded with custom tile inlays leads you into the heart of the home. Light dances off a sculptural overhead fixture, while every tile underfoot has been created specifically for this space. The first gesture of welcome is already layered with texture, intention, and detail.

The living and dining areas are immersive, filled with bold contrasts and handcrafted design. Black, wood, mint green, and red form an unusual but striking palette. Each element in the space — from the high gloss dining table to the sideboard in metallic gold — has been custom designed, drawn by hand, and built with precision. A family heirloom chest of drawers has been reimagined in black polish and gemstone knobs. A 52-year-old sofa has been revived, not replaced. Every piece holds a story.

The mandir wall, imagined as a minimal meditative nook, is framed by a partition that feels like sculpture. Crafted from wooden discs, spheres, and blocks, it divides without separating, offering rhythm instead of rigidity. The walls, finished in lime wash, lend a rustic softness, while antique style toggle switches, hand detailed curtains, and a layered rug complete the setting with quiet confidence. Behind the mint sofa hangs a black and white painting with a single bold stroke of red. Across the room, another piece of art continues the visual dialogue. This is a home where objects speak and colors converse.

The common bathroom is another highlight — featuring a beautifully textured wall and black and white customised tiles, it continues the language of detail and contrast found throughout the home.

Step into the balcony and the mood shifts. Custom tiles meet raw concrete panels. A bar in glossy red waits to be revealed, transforming the space from restful to celebratory in a moment. The guest room doubles as a study, where a Murphy bed tucks away beneath curved black veneer bookshelves. Neutral tones of black and white are elevated through texture and form.

In the master suite, smoked oak veneer wraps the room in warmth. The wardrobe hides a dresser behind cane and curved lines. The bed wall becomes the focal point, its grid of cutout panels creating subtle depth and rhythm. The adjoining bath is fresh and serene in layered shades of blue, grey, and black. The kitchen plays with contrast too — teal meets concrete, while cane and PU come together in unexpected harmony.

This is a home of contradictions that coexist. Grounded yet expressive. Modern yet timeless. Every inch has been touched by hand, shaped by memory, and guided by emotion. Sukoon is not just a project. It is a pause. A moment of deep exhale in the middle of life’s chaos.
