Ethereal Home

The design of the house was very minimalistic as per the client’s requirement, who wanted less furniture in the house yet accommodate all their requirements. The design is a mix of the modern and the contemporary style with hints and accents of an old world charm. The client had a grand piano and they wanted it to be a focal point in the house.
The client is a family of three, so the design team broke open the walls of one room and merged it with the living room and gave a folding sliding partition. This makes the room look spacious and it also converts into a guest room when there are guests. Otherwise, it is a part of the living space which acts as a den and entertainment zone where they can watch their matches and play music on piano. There are also photographs of the movies they watch together around the sofa, so it is a very private area that they share with their family and friends.
The main highlight of the house is the main door, which is nice and stylish in grey with black accent. On the side is a white brick wall which becomes a very appealing entrance to the house. As we walk in, the first thing that appears in the house on the right side is the kitchen, which is done in a clean and minimalistic way. We have used neutral colors to make the space look larger. Everything here is in plain colour except for the beautiful patterned flooring in Spanish style which creates a focal element. We provided a fluted glass door, so there are guests, they will not be able to see inside the kitchen. In front of the kitchen is the living room and on the right side is the dining space. The dining space has sideboard, which is in greyish blue tone with a mirror on top that also acts as a bar cabinet and crockery unit.
The living room has a soothing vibe where everything is in whites and light tone. The space is visually divided into two sections, one is the formal seating and one is the informal seating. The focal point of the hall is the jhula that client wanted right from the start. We turned this element into one of the highlights of the house. Two sofas sit on either side with the jhula in the front. The jhula is reversible, so it can face the sofa side as well as the window side whenever needed. On the opposite side is the informal seating with a sofa that is embedded in a wall with niches that can have books, accessories, and curios, where they curate whatever they pick up from their travels. Colors in the room are added through the paintings, the rugs and the accessories.
In the master bedroom, the clients wanted a very clean looking room with minimal things. So there is a TV, a very plain headboard, and study on one side and wardrobes on the other side. The room has neutral tones of grey and brown. The bathroom has tones of beige.
The daughter’s bedroom has an interesting combination of blue, beige and white tones because of her love for the color blue. We tried to accommodate a lot of storage in the ducts, etc. The wardrobes are finished in PU. The bathroom has shades of blues and greys. The guest bathroom has a very dark vibe with dark toned fittings.
The USP of the project is how the space is been made to look much larger than it actually was by breaking open the walls to create into one room. The space gives a very calming vibe due to the neutral color scheme used in the house.
